Dinner with our friends

Tonight dinner was late, I had to fix a leaky pipe under the sink.  Pan seared chicken breast strips, with mushrooms and zucchini served with toast of course. Everyone was extra hungry because of the wait. So needless to say as soon as the plates were on the table the silverware was engaged and food was consumed. My granddaughter noted, "you forgot the drinks gramma" "No I didn't forget I just haven't finished serving."
I turned and went back to the kitchen but when I returned all the drinks had been served. "My imaginary friend served everyone" my granddaughter told me in a matter of fact way. "That was very nice of her" I retorted. "Hows your dinasaur doin?" she asked me, "Fine, he came to work with me today, and waited in the car, except when I went to the hospital I let him out to eat crabapples because he really likes them." The conversation went on for a little while longer and then the friends must of fell asleep because we didn't hear from them much the rest of the night.

Is that drink for me?

Breakfast time can be lonely, and at times a bit hurried. As I am serving my granddaughter her milk, while placing it beside her plate of French toast, she asks me, "Is that drink for me?"
"Yes" I said "unless there is an invisible  friend sitting next too you."
Her eyes widened and as she looked to her right  to her amazement there was! An invisible friend that is.
Her name was Maddy and she has been coming to breakfast ever since. She follows her to school also, but has received strict instructions not to bother my granddaughter during school. And so far she has been ok. That day I also inherited a large pink dinasaur, with green spots that sleeps on the couch most of the time.
